So, apparently I was sent the wrong offer in my purple folder. Instead of QSFB, I was supposed to be offered Attractions, which was my first choice. Luckily, they switched this before I accepted, so now I am actually going to be an Attractions Cast Member. You have no idea how excited I am for this!
For my arrival date I chose June 7, so anyone else who will be down there at that time, let me know. I would love to hang out sometime. Not sure yet how I'm getting down there yet. My brother just got out of basic training and is in tech school in Mississippi right now, so my family may drive down to see him and drop me off in Florida afterwards. This is what I prefer because I'm almost positive it will be cheaper than flying all of my stuff down. Either way, I will be car-less down there.
That's all the news for now. Needless to say, it's gonna be a tough two months waiting to go down there. Classes are starting to lose their appeal and I'm finding it hard to concentrate, so please comment or ask me more questions so I have something to occupy my time with. Anything will do! Until next time, have a great day!

Chicago Auditions
All right, so I had my auditions in Chicago on Friday, and while they weren't quite what I expected, I am pleased to announce that I got good news and bad news.
The bad news is that I got cut very early on from the auditions due to my height. It turns out that there were no open spots in my range, so they did not see any point in keeping me there. Add to this the fact that the trip down took 10 and a half hours, partly due to an awful traffic jam in the city, plus the fact that I didn't get time to really see any sights in the city because we had to leave early the next morning to go home, and I was fairly disappointed with the trip.
The good news, however, is that shortly after I was cut from auditions I got a call from my mom at home saying that my purple folder came in, so regardless of the fact that I won't be a Character Performer, I will still be in the program. I was accepted as a Quick Service Food and Beverage cast member for the Fall Advantage program. This role was not even on my list of preferred roles and I specifically said in my phone interview that I did NOT want to work with food, so I was a little surprised, but I figured that its better to be doing that than not going down to Florida at all.
That's about all I can think of to report at the moment. You know the drill by now, but just for old time's sake I'll say it again: please post comments, questions, etc. so that I have fuel for further blogs. Other than that, until next time, have a great day!

Update Post
Just a short post today because a) nothing new has really happened and b) I am having just an absolutely awful day and I don't want to have it ruin your days.
It has been a week and a day since my phone interview and I have not heard anything yet from Disney. My auditions in Chicago are next Friday, which is pretty exciting. Other than that, not a whole lot of Disney related things have happened on my end, though I've been a bit distracted by everything else in my life, which is both a blessing and a curse.
You know the drill: comment, ask questions, add me on Facebook, whatever you feel like doing. Hopefully things will be a bit brighter the next time I post. Until next time, have a great day.

Top 10 Things to do at Disney World
All right. Still no sign of anything from Disney World, but thanks to Megan for posting a question. Since I only got the one question, I will devote my entire blog this time to her question. Megan asked what I'm looking forward to doing if (when?) I go down to Florida. Instead of telling one thing, though, I'm going to create a top ten list in no particular order. Here we go!
1) Eat a Dole Whip. For those who aren't in the know, Dole Whips are a brand of ice cream native to the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian Resort. From the reports I've read they aren't to be missed!
2) Drink Beverly in Epcot. I know what you're thinking, "But Shane, Beverly is the most vile beverage on the face of the planet." That may be true, but the way I see it, after drinking something so bad, other drinks will taste all the better.
3) Ride the Jungle Cruise. This is by far my favorite attraction in the parks. I could probably ride this every day and not get tired.
4) Live in Disney! Seriously, how could people not want to actually live in Disney!
5) Network. I want to actually have a job in the parks one day, so this could be the best way to get my foot in the door.
6) Meet tons of new people. I would love to meet all the people down there from across the country.
7) Explore the World Showcase. I have been down to Disney World twice, but both times I was not able to fully explore this part of Epcot like it deserves. With all the time I'll have down there, I should have no problem accomplishing this.
8) Exploring the rest of Orlando. I really don't know much about what there is to do around Orlando, but I want to find out. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!
9) Experience the parts of Disney World that a lot of people don't get to. This may seem a little vague, but I hear that CPers get to explore the different resorts as well as the parks at their own pace, which most tourists can't do.
10) Being able to brag to all my friends that I work at Disney World! Hey, what can I say. Maybe it makes me a bad person, but I do look forward this.
There you have it. All this being said, though, there are a lot of things that I am NOT looking forward to. I will really miss my family, friends, and my girlfriend here in South Dakota and chances are I will not be able to travel back to see them during the program. I'll just have to learn to deal with this, however and take it a day at a time.
Once again, please send me questions, comments, suggestions, whatever you want. Also, I have received notification that some people may be having trouble determining who I am on Facebook. My name is Shane Gunn and my profile picture is the same picture I have here. Well, until next time, have a great day!

The Waiting Game
Ahh! I hate waiting! It's been all of 3 days since my phone interview and I am already going crazy! Reading other people's blogs and watching vlogs on Youtube help to a certain point, but really, I just want to know for sure if I'm in the program or not!
Anyway, not much else is happening in my life. Pretty boring, actually, but that's life in South Dakota for you. When the highlight of my week is a trip to Sioux Falls to pick up a new video game you know I need more stuff to do. So, for those of you who actually are reading this, I would really appreciate any comments or questions you have. I like to think I'm pretty knowledgeable on Disney World and the college program, and even if I don't know the answer, I have a lot of time on my hands to look it up!
That's about all I have to say, so, until next time, have a great day!

Roommate Survey
Hey, so I am moving this blog from Livejournal to here because...well, because no one seemed to be reading it there and so I decided to see if I could get more readers here.
My name is Shane Gunn and a little less than two weeks ago I applied for the College Program at Walt Disney World during the Fall Advantage program. I just had my phone interview on Friday and, while I AM a bit worried still, I feel pretty good about how it went.
I originally wanted to try to emulate John Henselmeier and all the others by making a vlog but a) I don't own a webcam or camcorder and b) I don't think I'd even know how to run it anyway.
Anyway, I'm a Junior at South Dakota State University working on a theatre major, but I guess the best way for you to get to know me is if I just filled out one of those roommate surveys, thus killing two birds with one stone by also looking for a roommate should I be accepted into the program. So, without further ado:
1. Your name? Shane Gunn
2. Are you legal (over 21)? Not yet, but I will be by the time the program starts.
3. Male or female? Male
4. Gay, straight, bi (optional)? Straight
5. Where do you live? Brookings, SD
6. What role will you have at Disney? I don't know yet, but hopefully I'll either be a character performer or attractions person. I'll let you know as soon as I do.
7. What are your arrival/departure dates and season? Well, hopefully I'll get Fall Advantage, but I'll let you know that later.
8. Which apartment complex would you prefer to live at? Well, I am still officially undecided, but I'm leaning towards Vista right now.
9. How many roommates/rooms do you want? I am completely open in regards to this. The more the merrier!
10. Do you like to party? Do you plan on hosting any parties? On occasion and...perhaps?
11. What's your favorite food and, more importantly, can you cook well? I like the kind of food you eat. That edible food is the best. As for cooking, I'm...all right, I guess.
12. If your friends could descibe you in three words, what would they be? Well, that would be a question for my friends, wouldn't it?
13. What kind of music/movies do you like? I watch all kinds of movies and listen to all kinds of music. Wow, this doesn't help you get to know me at all, does it?
14. Do you smoke and, if so, inside or outside? No
15. Do you drink (socially or alcoholically)? No, but only because of medical reasons (mysterious, no?)
16. Are you a night person or a morning person? Night, all the way.
17. Are you driving or flying down? Flying. Florida is a long way from South Dakota.
18. What do you do for fun? Fun...things? I don't know. I like watching movies, playing video games, you know, the same kinds of things that most college students like doing.
19. What is your favorite quote? Favorite quote? Wow, I really don't have one, but if I had to choose something, I'd go with... "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." Dr. Seuss
20. What are you most excited for about being in the WDWCP? Well, I absolutely LOVE Disney, and am seriously considering starting a career in the parks. Also, I can't wait to meet everyone down there!
21. Favorite things to do when not working? I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the parks. Other than that, I don't really know. We'll see when I get down there. I'm pretty receptive to new things.
22. Name one good quality about myself? Well, I'm pretty much awesome.
23. Name one bad quality about myself? I stay up way too late sometimes and then spend all of the next day sleeping. I know what you're thinking. "I stay up pretty late too. It can't be that bad." That may be true, but for a while early in my college career I was literally nocturnal for no reason other than I refused to fall asleep at night.
24. Your college? South Dakota State
25. Your major? Theatre and History
26. Any medical conditions? Yes, I do. I am diabetic.
27. Are you messy/tidy? I am actually pretty messy, but I'm working on that.
28. Anything else? I really don't have much else that I can think of. I'm really easy to get along with, so I don't see any problems with people down there.
Anyway, this was kinda a long blog, but that's that. I really don't know what else to say. Please comment, add me on Facebook (if you do this, please add a short message to the friend request so I know who I'm adding), send me an email (gunner_525@hotmail.com), anything really. Ask me questions, give me suggestions on subjects to talk about, anything you want. But that's all for now. Until next time, have a great day!
